Today's lunchtime run was well-timed to give me a break from a day of solid marking. It was realistically a bit cold for me to run outside, but I didn't at all feel like going to the gym, so I tried it anyway. I could tell from the warmup that my lungs weren't doing too well, so I switched off the zombie chases and just took it gently. Actually it got a lot more comfortable about half-way in, which probably does suggest being fully warmed up made the difference, but still, I didn't really want to push myself.

Short zombies episode, pretty much just an infodump of the origins of the zombie apocalypse :-) I clocked 25 minutes at "Mission Complete" and decided to run for one more song, but as luck would have it it was the longest song in my playlist. So my final numbers were 3.3 km in 32 minutes. Slow, but I did get myself out and completed a run, and I did keep going for the full 30 minutes (plus a bit).

This was a very light-hearted episode after several more action-angsty ones, which was a nice change of tone.  I did it with 2 min:1 min run:walk intervals for a bit over 30 minutes and again averaged around 7:30 min/km .

If my magic mile time is to be believed, I ought to be able to run this kind of distance considerably faster, but I'm not quite ready to try that yet.  At the moment I finish "comfortably hot and tired" rather than gasping and exhausted - and I do need to knock out a decent half-day's work after the end of my lunchtime so I can't go completely all-out.  I'm thinking that I should stick to the current run:walk ratio for the next few zombie runs and maybe review again at the end of next week.
