Not a numbered run
Apr. 25th, 2013 08:20 pmI realised as I was leaving work that I didn't have time to do the full 38 minutes of "Week 8 Day 2". Instead I just ran directly to nursery. The distance is almost exactly 3km and my total time was 25:28 (including the walking bits at each end). It was quite hot and I picked up baby feeling very sweaty. The walk back was nice though.

Date: 26/04/2013 08:54 am (UTC)Sometime September/October, my workplace will move, adding about another half-kilometre to the run. So either I get faster or I have to leave work earlier. Hmmm.

Date: 26/04/2013 01:39 pm (UTC)If you're combining running with commuting, how are you managing to carry the things you need for work? I have considered it, because the Medical School is almost exactly 5 km from home, all downhill, and I could run it in not much more time than the bus journey takes, if you count waiting at the bus-stop and getting stuck in rush-hour traffic and walking the last 10 minutes from the stop to my front door. But I'm put off because I would have to carry my work clothes and shoes and my handbag and maybe a pile of marking or other paperwork to bring home...

Date: 26/04/2013 02:09 pm (UTC)I can get away with wearing trainers to work, and I often wear skirts-over-leggings. So I did that yesterday. I changed in the work loos at the end of the day, swapping bra, top and socks, and carrying the following in the rucksack:
skirt + work top
nursing bra
normal socks
empty lunchboxes
And then I put on the bumbag with my phone in it, earphones on, put the baby sling over the bumbag in its rolled-up state (when it's like a second, oversized bumbag), and put the rucksack on with the chest-strap tightened.
I could wear nice shoes to work and leave them under my desk until the next day (I sometimes go through phases of leaving nice shoes at work and not caring what I go back and forth in). But I think the handbag and the paperwork are the issue - what I carried yesterday was light and not too bulky.
I left my bike locked up at work and will probably reclaim it Monday unless I can be bothered to slog out there over the weekend. Are there days when you can leave paperwork behind?
