I did the same route as about a month ago, but this time I padded it out to get a nice round 12k done. I was deliberately aiming for a slower pace at 1m:1m but couldn't actually have done it much faster even if I'd wanted to, certainly not as fast as last time.
Aim for next week: 2 short runs & 1 "long" run of 5-6km, all at 1m:1m.

Date: 29/09/2014 01:50 pm (UTC)My actual ability to keep pace isn't as good as I'd like: I went off too fast on this one, and I didn't seem to be able to slow down much until half way through. Looking at the splits, I actually started slowing down during the 5th km (which makes sense given I usually do 4-4.5k during the week), but it took a while to affect the overall average.
The last couple of km were pretty slow, and those were the ones where I could hear my average pace was dropping quite a lot, and was pushing myself a bit in response.
The more I think about it, the more I think I should get Runkeeper to give me more frequent feedback and really focus on slowing down at the start of all my runs.
