Success!

Done yesterday, on the way home from work.  I took a slightly different route which gave me more chances of crossing the big busy road that cuts across all my possible commutes home, as last week I had to basically stand and wait to cross.  I'll do that route again in future, it has a handy loop which I can go round more times if/when I get faster, but yesterday delivered me to my door 10 seconds after the end of the cool down.

No stitches this time, I paid more attention to running slowly enough that I was ok, and even when it started to rain towards the end of the run I was still ok and content/enjoying the endorphins (also I had a Bond songs mix to run to which I was loving).  Even so, I'm still basically hovering around the 2 mile mark with no appreciable further distance even though I'm exercising for 30s longer and running for 60s longer.

My general fitness seems to be improving: walking my commute has been a bit faster this week than last - from 17:40 min/mile down to 16:58 min/mile.  I once could powerwalk at 14:30 min/mile but only while getting nicely sweaty, but I'd like to see whether I could reach 16 min/mile without getting too hot (at least winter helps for that).

Ooh, yay! I'm glad I managed to run two days in a row so we're back in synch; there's no reason I won't be able to manage day 3 on Thursday. Well done for pacing yourself, too.

Measuring fitness in terms of how fast you can walk seems like a very good idea! I should probably start timing at least some of my walks, the ones where I'm not carrying a rucksack at least.

Yeah, I'm ridiculously better at walking and powerwalking than running, but like you I want to run. And I'm similarly aiming for Parkrun once I get through the C25K program. I might consider walking more serious distances as my next challenge if I get to the point where I'm happy with my running; Moonwalk sounds cool, and I am really envious of [personal profile] jack's mum who managed to work her way up from no real fitness at all to doing these mad 50-mile walks. But for now, running; I can afford 20 - 40 minutes three times a week, whereas I don't think I'd manage training for a couple of hours a day and then all day at the weekend.

Oh, by the way, could you give community members the power to add new tags? It's a good idea to tag posts by person, but I can't tag with "Liv" as that's not on the community tag list. I promise not to spoil your system with rude or inappropriate tags!

Sorry, I'm a total geek about tagging and obscure DW features! Other suggestions: http://c25k.dreamwidth.org/?poster=rmc28 leads to all your posts in the community; you could perhaps put one of those in the link list for each active member?

Another option is to rename tags so that rmc28 becomes member: rmc28 etc. DW automatically interprets the : as hierarchical tags and it would make all the tags which are names of members sit together in alphabetical order in the tag list.

Please ignore if my suggestions are too obsessive!
