It was actually hot today for the first time this year. So I waited until just before sunset to run, by which time the conditions were really pleasant. My phone has now got to the point where the battery falls out every couple of minutes, not just occasionally, so it was impossible to use a GPS-based app to measure the run.
I tried to take the opportunity to run mindfully, just paying attention to my body and the cool evening air. I'm not yet back at a level of fitness where running for half an hour at a gentle pace is a purely pleasant experience, but it was I think quite good for me to concentrate on movement without being distracted by waiting for the next timepoint.
I think I do kind of need something to keep score for motivation, though. In theory I can see it would be good to just run at an easy pace for a few weeks and then see if I've improved, rather than measuring every single time and being distracted by meaningless fluctuations. But I fear I wouldn't actually make myself do that.
Oh, and some irritating teenage boys shouted rude comments and wolf-whistled me, which is a pain but it's only the second time I've had trouble since I started this running programme, so I didn't let it get to me too badly.
