"Have some water now to help your body recover," says Evil Laura.
"Well, Evil Laura," says I, "make that a big glass of rhubarb cordial with a straw, because I deserve a Fun Drink after this."
Evil Laura says I am now officially a runner, because I am capable of running for 25 minutes without stopping. Slow running, but still running. For the last 60 seconds she suggested picking the pace up a bit if I felt comfortable with it in order to finish on a high, so I did! Actually, I had already started doing that when she said there were five minutes left, but then my thoughts started wandering, and apparently that makes me slow down, because I suddenly found myself at a snail's pace.
25 minutes. It was difficult. Of course it was difficult. It's supposed to be difficult. But it wasn't Difficult so I'm quite pleased with this.
If I recall correctly, week 7 is 3x25 minutes, week 8 is 3x28 minutes and the last week is 3x30 minutes, so the rest of the program should be a piece of cake. Hey, the way it was going today, I could have done 30 minutes today, I honestly could. This is not me being over-confident, because I know it went well today because all the conditions were right for it going well. I could have done the full 30 minutes today. Doesn't mean I can do even the 25 on Friday.
Weather today was great, but I've been looking at the forecast for the next week and there are no two ways about it. I have absolutely no interest in gyms and treadmills. Therefore I'm simply going to have to get over the hurdle of 'rain'. I don't like running in the rain, but that's just something I'll have to learn. There is no alternative for me (apart from doing laps round the dining table which Husband says probably wouldn't really work anyway). Means I'll have to get some different running trousers though. Currently I'm using some very comfortable cotton yoga trousers. But they're white, and when they get wet, they become see-through...
Finally the statistics bit on the site where I log all my runs now say that my running shoes have done a total of 111 kilometers. That sounds like rather a lot!
(crossposted from my own journal. Apologies if this post turns up twice. Not sure what happened at my end. Something weird...)

Date: 08/10/2014 03:25 pm (UTC)Haven't the faintest. I've never done it before. These are the thoughts I've been having, though. I figured I'd go into H&M and see what they had. I don't really want to spend a fortune on an outfit. I'm not keen on only leggings either, so I think I'll probably end up with another pair of yoga trousers and then maybe wear them on top of some leggings if I find I need more layers. Just... you know, not white ones. :) I thought I'd also get a shirt with long sleeves as well. The one I've got now is 3/4 sleeves and on a cold day, that's beginning to feel a little cold. I've already got a running jacket, but I'm not sure if that will be good for the whole winter, so I'll be having a look at that as well later on, but that's not very important yet. On a fairly sunny day like today with not too much wind, it was actually still warm enough that I ended up taking the jacket off halfway through. Finally, when it gets icy, I'm quite concerned about slipping and falling (whether I'm running or walking) so I bought some thingies that you put on your shoes or boots. It's like a little slipper for your footwear and with little spikes underneath. I haven't tested them yet, because I only just bought them in spring at a great price reduction. :)

Date: 08/10/2014 03:30 pm (UTC)If either of you are near an Aldi, tomorrow's "Special Buys" include lots of running gear: https://www.aldi.co.uk/en/specialbuys/thursday-9-october/
I'm aiming for the running trousers, one of the long-sleeved running tops (not sure between "running top", "running sweatshirt" or one of the half-zip things) some socks, the earband and the gloves. Assuming anything is left in my size by the time I can get there of course.
