Ran with the zombies again today. I found some of the story a bit hard to hear, but I think I picked the wrong treadmill, one in the noisier part of the gym.

Three chases, of which I managed the first two almost comfortably, and inexplicably failed the third even though I set the treadmill to 7.8 kph for the required one minute. I think the margins of running to keep up with the treadmill must be flexible enough that I didn't quite average 20% faster as measured by the phone's accelerometer.

My main problem is not completing the sprints as such, it's that I basically don't recover from the sprints unless I actually slow to a walk. Which meant that even 6.5 kph felt like really hard work, because I was still barely getting my breath from the zombie chase section. So this time I allowed myself two minutes of walking after the second two sprints, and even so, I found I was short of breath for the rest of the run. I think I will keep this up at least for a little while, and hopefully improve my fitness enough to manage this pattern.

Anyway, 3.3 km total, due to running mostly at 6.5 kph with three sets of 1 minute sprints and two minute walks.

Hurray. I certainly found the sprints really hard to recover from the time I tried (which is why I'm not planning to do them, at least for a bit) but hmm, walking break after might be a solution.
