Woke up feeling excited to run in the sunshine, but then I realized it was below freezing, so I changed the plan and went to the gym. At least walking to the gym allowed me to enjoy the pleasant weather, even if I had to run on the treadmill.

The plan for Week E day 3 was to run either 48 minutes or 5 km, whichever I finished first. In the end I did 5 km in just over 45 minutes, which was 8 songs at 6.8 kph and 6 songs at 6.5 kph. The main limit was not my lungs or my muscles but my skin again, I had to push myself to keep going through sore feet and chafing thighs.

I'm really pleased to have managed 5 km of continuous running! It's taken me 4 months since starting the programme rather than the advertised 9 weeks, but it feels like a major achievement. I suppose technically I haven't met the target until I manage 5 km actually within 30 minutes. That feels like a long way off at the moment, but I've got this far by making gradual improvements. And now I have a 5k time to beat.
