rmc28: Photo of me shortly before starting my first half-marathon (half-marathon)

I felt under the weather on Monday and Tuesday so did not run, though I did manage to keep up twice-daily walking.  As expected, I was not able to run Thursday evening.  I did however manage to run Friday evening, at a run:walk ratio of 1m:1m.  Although this is obviously the same proportion of running as 30s:30s, it was noticeably harder, and it took a while for me to settle into a pace that worked.

I actually came in slower than the average pace I'd managed at 30s:30s which is partly it being harder and partly that I had to wait for ages at a traffic light.  I really do need to avoid crossing busy roads at busy times, it confuses me too much on the pacing.

I'm definitely going to have to run a few more times at this ratio before I'll feel ready to make the next jump (to 2m:1m).  It's frustrating - this is the ratio I ran my half-marathon at in March, and it was "easy" then.

I hear you on the frustration when it takes ages to get back to the standard you were at before. I definitely do find busy roads throw off my pacing too. Well done for keeping up your walking and for getting a run in even if it didn't work out earlier in the week.
