Not a good run today. First of all my lungs felt awful for no reason, I was struggling for breath when I'd barely even started. I think maybe it's that running up even a gentle slope is too much for me, but it might be just random bad luck. So I was running as far as I could manage and then walking for a bit and then trying again. Then it turned out that what I'd thought was a lane was more like muddy tire-tracks; most of it was passable, but not at speed (and by speed I mean even the sort of shuffle-jog I was managing today). And even short sections of wading through liquid mud aren't very much fun.

In the end I covered 5 km in 57 minutes, which is slower than walking pace but was actually an average of some bits of running at about 9½'/km, some bits of picking my way through mud or pausing to get my breath back, and quite a lot of fast walking or slow jogging. Which probably still counts as about an hour of exercise, but not the run I set out to do.

Also Runkeeper seems to have a bug where no matter what I actually do on the ground it thinks I've climbed 270 metres... Which is annoying partly because now that I am forced to do a bit of running uphill, I'd like more accurate numbers, and indeed the chance to get actual elevation PRs.

I wonder whether air pollution might have had something to do with your lungs feeling awful? There has been stuff in the news about smog and London did look a bit dusty today.

I went for a run yesterday and it was all hazy, and though I don't get asthma, my eyes were quite sore this morning.
