Still no accelerometer so no zombie chases, but at least I could hear the dialogue this time. This was one of the best runs I've managed for ages, not that the numbers were super-brilliant but still an improvement.

I ran for 10 minutes at 7.2 kph, and felt I was struggling for breath, so I slowed down to 6.5 kph for 5 minutes, and then actually managed to complete the remaining 15 minutes at a steady pace of 7.2 kph. I think the second chunk was easier partly for psychological reasons, telling myself that I just need to keep going for 5 minutes is very different from facing the prospect of another 20 minutes of this when I'm struggling already. But I think it was also better physically, I was warmed up and got into a good rhythm with deep, regular breathing.

That came out at 3.5 km total, so the same average as when I ran the whole thing at 7 kph. But I feel good about incrementing my speed and still coping, and taking a break by running slower rather than giving up.

I have no idea whether I'm going to be able to keep up with running over the Xmas break; may be tricky if, as is likely, it's too cold to run outside, since I'm not a member of a gym in Cambridge. But I'll see if I can improvise something.
