Tuesday we had a visitor so we did the traditional Cambridge thing of tea at the Orchard. It was an exceptionally nice day, and I wasn't going to fit a run in otherwise, so I changed into my running things in the café toilets and ran back along the river to Cambridge. It turns out it's exactly 5 km from the Orchard to Mitcham's Corner, and nearly all of it is paths, through a couple of tiny nature reserves and along the river and then through the public bits of the Backs. The only awkward road bit was the last section along Chesterton Road, particularly crossing at the big junction at the start of it. I ran pretty slowly, taking 48 minutes to cover the 5 km.

Today, back on campus, it was grey and probably too cold to run, but I don't have a gym membership at the moment and I don't want to let myself be put off by less than perfect weather. So I pushed myself to run for 30 minutes this evening, and found it hard going, mainly because my lungs were struggling with the cold air. My time wasn't as bad as I feared it might be, 3.3 km in 30 minutes and that's including quite a lot of uphill.
