Wow, completing the 20 minute run at the end of week 5 has been such a psychological boost! I turned up at the gym today thinking, I've done 20 minutes continuously, 5/8/5 should be easy-peasy. And whaddya know, it was. It was exertion, I was definitely breathing hard and sweating, but I got to the end thinking, hey, if this weren't so boring I could do the whole thing again.

Remembering my previous bad experience with going back to the gym after several outdoor runs, I only set the speed to 7 kph, which is not the fastest I can do. But still, that gave me a two-mile total distance for the first time, 3.2 km in 29 minutes or an average pace of 9'4'' /km. That's a little teeny bit faster than my 20 minute run overall, even though I was only running for 3/5 of the time instead of 4/5. So I think it's an all round improvement over Week 5 day 3.

And I think I've finally found that endorphin high I've been chasing for the past 2 years. Having done the workout at a pace that was hard work but not painful on my lungs, I actually feel really good, relaxed and bouncy and energized. Woo!
